How Our Intercity Transfers Work
Your Quote and Booking
Tell us your pickup address, destination, travel date, number of passengers and luggage. We quote a price for the right vehicle, and your booking is confirmed by email or SMS. Your price is agreed at the time of booking and only changes if you amend the journey on the way, for example by adding an extra stop. Motorway traffic does not change your fare.
Door to Door, Wherever You Start
Your driver collects you from your home, hotel, office or London terminal station, and takes you directly to your destination address. That might be a hotel in Manchester, a college in Cambridge, a client’s office in Birmingham or a cottage in the Cotswolds. Intercity transfers work in both directions. We regularly collect clients from cities across the UK and bring them into London for meetings, flights and events.
Stops on the Way
Long journeys are more comfortable with a break. Your driver can stop at motorway services for food, fuel or a rest, and we can build extra stops into your booking, such as collecting a colleague on the way. Mention any planned stops when you book so they are included in your quote.
Return Journeys
If you are travelling for a day of meetings or an event, we can arrange your return journey at the same time. You travel home with the same peace of mind, without searching for a car in an unfamiliar city at the end of a long day.
Intercity by Car or by Train?
For a solo traveller going from one city-centre station to another, with little luggage, a train can be quick and good value. We would rather be honest about that than pretend a car always wins.
A private car makes more sense when your journey does not start or end next to a mainline station, when you are carrying luggage, or when you are travelling as a group. Once you add a taxi at each end, a Tube journey across London and a change of trains, the door-to-door time often matches or beats the train.
The cost comparison also changes with group size. A family of four or a team of six pays one price for the whole vehicle, rather than four or six tickets. You also avoid the risk of cancellations, missed connections and standing in a crowded carriage with your bags.
Business and Executive Intercity Travel
For business travellers, the hours on the road become working hours. The quiet cabin of a Mercedes-Benz E-Class or S-Class gives you space to take calls, review papers or prepare for a presentation without the noise and interruptions of a train carriage.
We regularly drive clients to day meetings in Birmingham, Manchester, Cambridge and Oxford, to conferences at the NEC and ExCeL, and on multi-city roadshows. Your driver works to your schedule, so a meeting that overruns does not mean a missed train home.
Businesses can open a corporate account for monthly invoicing and priority booking across all intercity, airport and local journeys.
Groups, Families and University Moves
Travelling as a group is where an intercity transfer offers the best value. Our VW Sharan (XL) carries up to six passengers and our Mercedes Vito (XL-Plus) carries up to eight, both with space for luggage.
We are often booked for family holidays, wedding guests travelling out of London, sports teams and stag or hen weekends. At the start and end of university terms, we take students and their belongings to and from Oxford, Cambridge, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and other university cities. A car removes the stress of carrying a term’s worth of luggage on the train.
Choosing the Right Vehicle for a Long Journey
On a long journey, comfort and luggage space matter more than they do on a short city ride. Choose a vehicle with room to spare, especially if you are travelling for several hours.
What to Know Before a Long Journey
Some routes out of London cross charged roads. Journeys starting in Central London during charging hours may pass through the Congestion Charge zone. Kent and Essex routes, such as those to Dover, Canterbury and Southend, often use the Dartford Crossing. Routes to Manchester and the North West can use the M6 Toll to avoid Birmingham traffic.
Your quote is confirmed at booking, so ask us how these charges apply to your route when you book.
Traffic on the M25 and the approach roads into London is the biggest variable on any intercity journey. For time-critical arrivals, such as a ferry departure, a wedding or an important meeting, we recommend building in extra time. Our team will suggest a pickup time based on your route and the day you are travelling.

Exploring Beyond London?
Some of Britain’s best experiences are a comfortable drive from the capital. You could spend a day among the colleges of Oxford and Cambridge, the Roman baths and Georgian crescents of Bath, the seafront at Brighton, or the castle at Windsor. You could also head north for a weekend in York, Manchester or Edinburgh. With a private car, you leave from your door, travel at your own pace, and arrive at your hotel rather than a station.
